Mcored, watch out for bat installers, many antiviruses will classify it as threat.

Good call there Zarax. :(

I just want to recall our main concern was/is to let the end-user know what's being installed to their system UNLIKE almost every other codec pack. Batch files will show the user what's being registered to their system and users will have full control over it. So it's a true WYSIWYGI (What You See Is What You Get Installed Wink)

Upon request we can make a GUI installer. We can make one anyway letting the users to have more than one option. I think that's a good idea.

Well, the RAR sfx should have that option.
If not, many free installers shows what they are doing.

Haha, good joke! Don't worry buddy, they don't even make the effort to install the software. Maybe it's clean, but don't trust those marketing strategies. They want backlinks from you and other newbies, that's all. They don't lose the time to test software Very Happy

Good point anders. :)

If the average users doesn't trust our word they will at least trust when it is distributed with some kind of certification. This is done merely to convince the community that it is clean.

I could not come up with another better way to show that the pack is clean. Gee I feel like going back to sharing the MSDOS Batch File Installer.

You made me think this: why not create our own certification? Okay MSUN Decoder Pack 2005 doesn't need any other external certification. Nothing created by MSUN is spyware or adaware. It is guranteed to be clean by Microsoft User Network. Wink

I don't think that statement is correct. I have submitted two other applications and in the screenshots section I can see screenshots which I haven't submitted to them.

http://www.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/WM9-Bitrate-Calculator-Screenshot-20031.html

Unless they have an automatic screenshot capturing tool by automatically executing all the applications submitted, I think they have a standard procedure of testing applications.

More proof:

Hardly believe it is automated.

Update proposal:

Alessandro Angeli suggested replacing 3ivx and some other stuff with ffdshow, it should increase support quite a bit...

Good idea. MSUN Decoder Pack April to June internal builds were using DivX and XviD in an attempt to replace 3ivX for some AVI files. Both 3ivX and ffdShow failed to decode a OpenDML IMRR 1.04 AVI properly.

Code:
DSH   4CC   MP43
DSH   Friendly Name   ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder
DSH   Driver or Wrapper   F:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax
DSH   DirectShow CLSID   {04FE9017-F873-410E-871E-AB91661A4EF7}
REG   Additional Media Type 01   4cc: xvid                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 02   4cc: XVID                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 03   4cc: divx                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 04   4cc: DIVX                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 05   4cc: div3                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 06   4cc: DIV3                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 07   4cc: dx50                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 08   4cc: DX50                - already in DivX
REG   Additional Media Type 09   4cc: mp43                - already in 3iVX D4 4.5.1
REG   Additional Media Type 10   WMMEDIASUBTYPE_MP43      - already in 3iVX D4 4.5.1
REG   Additional Media Type 11   4cc: mp42                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 12   4cc: MP42                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 13   4cc: mp41                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 14   4cc: MP41                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 15   4cc: h263                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 16   4cc: H263                - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 17   MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2        - unique to ffdShow
REG   Additional Media Type 18   MEDIASUBTYPE_RGB24       - unique to ffdShow

Seeing that eight additional 4CC Types are support with ffdShow, going test with it.

Cheers,
McoreD
